Welcome to our site - We are so glad you found us!
We are a grassroots volunteer-run organization committed to raising both funds and awareness for Mental Health and Addiction Services at Joseph Brant Hospital. Everyone on our committee has a vested interest in reducing stigma surrounding mental illness and believe strongly that no one should struggle alone. Our Walk to the Lighthouse is an important event where the community comes together to show support not only for these important services but also for the people and families who access them. It is a day where conversations are started, awareness is raised and funds are donated directly to the For All Minds Campaign to support the re-development of Mental Health and Addiction Services at JBH.
Thank you for being here and for supporting a cause so near to our hearts.
Walk to the Lighthouse Committee
THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!
Our Goals
Raise awareness about the importance of mental health and addiction support.
Dismantle the stigma around mental illness and addiction to reduce barriers for individuals seeking treatment.
Raise funds to improve mental health and addiction supports for our community.
Why We Care
Mental illness affects all Canadians at some time either through their own experience, or that of a family member, friend or colleague. In any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness, and by age 40, about 50% of the population will have or have had a mental illness.
The time is now to build modern Mental Health & Addictions (MHA) program facilities at Joseph Brant Hospital that ensure dignified, respectful, person-centred care, and support recovery and improve outcomes for every patient group we serve, including children, youth, and adults from across the region and beyond.
FOR ALL MINDS
This campaign will help to establish the new MICHAEL AND LAURA PALETTA MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS INPATIENT UNIT containing a new psychiatric intensive care unit within the North Tower
Will support the strategic placement of the Outpatient Mental Health unit within the hospital’s inpatient unit
Will support the new CHILD AND YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH DAY HOSPITAL program designed to meet the unique needs of this vulnerable group
What We Do
We organize the annual Walk to the Lighthouse event.
We sell our merchandise at JBH and community events throughout the year.
We raise awareness about the importance of mental health support.
What We Support
Each year, 100% of funds raised go to the JBH Foundation’s FOR ALL MINDS campaign. This campaign then uses funds for infrastructure and support for patients, families, and caregivers through JBH’s in-patient and outpatient Mental Health & Addiction Services.
